Whatever Happened To… Walter Egan?

Magnet and Steel – Walter Egan (1978)
This American singer-songwriter is usually considered a one-hit wonder, but he kept good company. Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks (of Fleetwood Mac) co-produced Egan’s debut album, and Buckingham co-produced his second album, which elicited this hit…which, in turn, was reportedly inspired by Nicks. While Egan may not have scored another hit, he was not idle: He joined several bands for short stints in the ensuing years. Now living near Nashville, Egan continues to write, record, and perform – both from his past catalog and new material. In 2008, he returned to Georgetown University, his alma mater, to serve as adjunct faculty for their Music Industry Seminar.
