Whatever Happened To… MFSB?

TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia) – MFSB (1974)
This instrumental classic was, by most accounts, the first disco single to top the charts in the US. MFSB (acronym for Mother, Father, Sister, Brother or Mother Fuckin’ Son-of-a-Bitch …take your pick) were a large ensemble studio band. Members began to defect to other studios shortly after this hit, when producers Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff were implicated in improper financial dealings. Gamble & Huff continue to write and produce for other artists today, albeit at a slower pace. They’ve been recognized with Grammy Awards & the┬áNational Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences’ Trustees Award and have been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
