Whatever Happened To… Sugar?

If I Can’t Change Your Mind – Sugar (1992)
This American “super-trio,” comprised of musicians from previous bands, released only two albums before calling it quits in 1996. Front-man Bob Mould (with Hüsker Dü in the 80’s), returned to his solo career, which has seen him release albums and tour regularly. Mould also collaborated with dance music producer/DJ Richard Morel to form the side-project Blowoff. They released an album in 2006 and have been touring the US this year. David Barbe (with Mercyland in the 80’s) returned to Athens and opened a recording studio, which has allowed him to work with Amy Ray, R.E.M, Drive-By Truckers, among others. For the past two years, Barbe’s also been the director of the music business program at the University of Georgia. Malcolm Travis (with Human Sexual Response in the 70’s and 80’s) joined the band Kustomized for a short time following Sugar’s demise. He’s since been a session musician, arranger, and producer.
