Whatever Happened To… Men Without Hats?

The Safety Dance – Men Without Hats (1983)
This Canadian band made a distinctive – and sizable – international splash with this, their debut single. They released albums throughout the 80’s, but weren’t able to replicate their initial success and called it quits in 1992. Allan McCarthy, who played percussion and synthesizers, died in 1995 from AIDS-related complications. In 1997, front-man Ivan Doroschuk released a solo album. In 2003, Ivan teamed up with his brother Stefan Doroschuk (guitarist and early member of the band) to release an album under the MWH moniker. Ivan formally re-launched the band in 2010 using session musicians, and they toured throughout North America. Their most recent studio album was released two months ago.
