Lady Marmalade – Labelle (1974)
This American trio, comprised of Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx, and Sarah Dash, originally found fame in the 60’s singing doo-wop. When they introduced funk & rock influences in the 70’s, they found their greatest success. They went on hiatus in 1977, which saw all three members pursue solo careers. LaBelle’s solo work was the most commercially prominent, but Hendryx’s progressive rock and Dash’s disco & session work also gained critical reception over the years. The trio reunited in 2005, their latest album came out in 2008, and a tour followed. The ladies continue to pursue solo & side projects.
