Whatever Happened To… Freddy Fender?

Wasted Days & Wasted Nights – Freddy Fender (1975)
Born Baldemar Huerta, this American singer-songwriter originally wrote and recorded this hit in 1959, but his career was derailed. His career found its renaissance in 1974, when he began a decade-long presence on the US country chart. In the late 80’s, he joined Flaco Jiménez, Augie Meyers, and Doug Sahm to form the Texas Tornados. And in the late 90’s he joined another super group, Los Super Seven. Fender released his last album, a solo effort, in 2001. He died of cancer in 2006.
