Whatever Happened To… The O’Jays?

This American vocal group, originally a quintet when they formed in 1958, became a trio just when they started hitting their stride in the early 70’s. Eddie Levert & Walter Williams have remained the stalwart founding members over the years despite a couple line-up changes in the third role (currently held by Eric Grant). The O’Jays’ pop chart success waned after the 70’s, followed by their R&B chart success waning in the 80’s. But they’ve continued to perform and record consistently over the years. And they’ve been inducted into both the Rock & Roll and Vocal Group Halls of Fame. Most recently, they released a holiday album in 2010.
