This classically-trained American singer-songwriter was moonlighting at bars & clubs in Washington, DC, while working days as a school teacher, when she landed her big break in the early 70’s. While critically & commercially successful on her own, she’s often collaborated with others: During the 70’s, she scored several hits and two studio albums with Donny Hathaway. During the 80’s, she had multiple hits with Peabo Bryson. And in the 90’s, she scored a Top Ten hit (her latest) with Maxi Priest. While her output has slowed and diminished in commercial reception, Flack has continued to record & perform. Last year, she put out a collection of Beatles covers and a holiday album.
