Tired of Toein’ the Line – Rocky Burnette (1980)
Born Jonathan Burnette, this American singer-songwriter is the son of the late rockabilly legend Johnny Burnette. Following the international success of this debut hit, Rocky’s career in the US floundered when his American record label went bankrupt. He joined his father’s old band, The Rock & Roll Trio, for a tour in Europe, and they released an album in 1983. But it was unsuccessful, and they were dropped by their label. Burnette surfaced again in 1996 with a solo effort, but his label once again went bankrupt. He toured with his Trio bandmate Paul Burlison and contributed to Burlison’s 1997 solo effort. Burnette’s latest release, a 2001 collaboration with Darrel Higham & the Enforcers, is a tribute to his father’s legacy.
